Andy Scott short on details of the Liberal "plan" for daycare

Fredericton Liberal MP Andy Scott recently did a mailout to the riding regarding the Liberal Child Care plan. You can read it at his website and click under childcare.

This is what politicians of all stripes do, they mail out their views to the voters. I don’t have a problem with that but I DO have a problem with the lack of truthfulness.

Andy Scott slams the Conservatives’ plan of issuing $100 monthly cheques to every family with children under 6 years of age (that’s fine, that’s his opinion).

Here’s the problem. A) the letter is vague on details of what the Liberal plan would entail (how much would it cost, would parents receive subsidies or would there simply be more daycare spaces, how would you get more daycare spaces when workers are already at a premium, etc.) and B) the motherhood statement that “we (the Liberals) have worked out a plan that meets the needs of all Canadian children”. I’m intrigued. How does this plan benefit parents who work shift work or weekends, parents who live in rural areas who have no access to daycares, or stay at home parents? I know I’m going to get jumped on for this one but remember Andy Scott wrote the motherhood statement that ALL Canadian children would benefit. If he’s going to say that he should back it up with more than spending 75% of the letter slamming the Conservatives.
